Sensory Nature Play Bush Playgroup – Casual

  •  03/10/2018
     10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Braeside Park is an oasis of parkland nestled in a suburban sandbelt south-east of Melbourne and consists of woodlands and wetlands, offering plenty of space to explore and play.

Come and join us for a fun morning of nature connection with a range of interactive, engaging and sensory nature play activities for your little ones to enjoy such as nature painting, stamping, mud kitchen play, crafting and musical play for sensory exploration.  Of course, our mud kitchen play is always popular with the little ones who enjoy cooking up a storm of mud pies, mud cakes and perhaps even some delicious mud ice-cream. Yum!

Children will get to mix and crush their own earth paints and discover colours, as well as enjoy painting on all sorts of textures such as bark, rocks, paper and even their body. They can play with our selection of nature stamps to explore textures and smells with our 100% natural play dough, or enjoy mixing and baking in our ever so popular mud kitchen.

Children will also have the opportunity to create some beautiful nature craft to take home but be warned, they will get dirty and grubby and leave with a very smile on their face. There will also be a story and some songs to enjoy.

Our program has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to build their gross motor and physical skills through climbing, balancing, walking and fine motor skills during our craft activities. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.

This playgroup is run by Katie.

Katie is a passionate environmental educator and scientist who has over 20 years experience running environmental education programs and more recently, working with children as a fully accredited AustSwim Teacher. She is currently completing her studies in Early Childhood Education and has many years bush experience while conducting field research  ‘off the beaten track’  in remote farming, forested and desert landscapes.

Ages: 1 – 6 years (siblings under 12 months are welcome to attend for free).
