Delight your child’s senses with our water and ice play workshop, perfect for keeping COOL in summer! Take in all the wonders of nature while your child plays to their heart’s content. Our play days offer you the best of nature play in a relaxed, supportive and positive environment.  The sessions are relaxed and child led and parents are encouraged to follow their child’s lead.

We’ll have a variety of sensory activities set up from our small world ice play with polar bears, ice hammering in search of bugs, painting, mixing and creating potions and of course baking and mud play in our mud kitchen!

Our sensory nature play playgroup is run by Katie and Kate.

Katie is a passionate early childhood educator, forest school leader and environmental scientist who has over 20 years experience running educational programs. She has been running bush playgroups for Eco Explorers for the past year.

Kate is a professional artist and experienced primary school teacher with a major in Outdoor Education.  She is passionate about creativity and how sensory interaction with the natural environment can stimulate curiosity, imagination and creativity.

Our program has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to build their gross motor and physical skills through climbing, balancing, walking and fine motor skills during our craft activities. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally. Our playgroups are also a time for parents to disconnect from their busy lives (and technology) and re-connect with their child in nature. This time is as much for you as it is for your child.

Bush playgroup is an all weather outdoor playgroup so you need to make sure you bring appropriate weather protection and clothing. Children must have closed footwear when walking in the bush, sun hats, sunscreen, wet weather gear, plenty of snacks and water and a change of clothes.

Ages: 1 – 6 years (siblings under 12 months are welcome to attend for free).

*Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
