Ricketts Sanctuary – Be a Marine Biologist for a Day!

  •  25/01/2022
     1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us for a morning at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary as we learn, discover and create magic at the rockpools! Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary is the perfect location to introduce kids to the wonder of Victoria’s underwater marine life with its crystal clear shallow waters, sandstone reefs, sea caves, and stunning rockpools make Ricketts Point the perfect place to discover the wonderful sea creatures of Port Phillip Bay.

Come and join us for an hands on workshop out on the rockpools experiencing what it is like to be a marine biologist for a day. Perfect for those passionate about marine animals and conservation and with a low tide, our experienced facilitator will delve deep into all sorts of interesting and fascinating facts, designed for children with a curiosity about the marine environment.

Our program has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to engage in hand son learning with experienced facilitators. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.

Our workshop facilitator Diana lives locally and with an Archaeology and Paleontology Degree, she has a wealth of knowledge to share about the local marine life with her groups.

As a protected marine sanctuary, we want to do our bit to help protect the marine life and clean up any plastic we find so we ask you to tread carefully and be gentle on the rock pools, remove nothing and please wear soft shoes on the platforms and reefs. If you see any rubbish then please pick it up or let us know as we always take a bin to collect  and clean the sanctuary. All materials are bought for the craft activities.

Ages: 4 – 12 years

*Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
