Join us for an morning at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary as we learn, discover and create at the rock pools! Ricketts Point is the perfect place to introduce kids to the wonder of Victoria’s underwater marine life. Crystal clear shallow waters, sandstone reefs, sea caves, and rockpools make Ricketts Point the perfect place to discover the wonderful sea creatures of Port Phillip Bay.

Come and join us for a interactive workshop out on the rockpools discovering the magnificent marine life, sharing stories and then getting crafty, making your own seashell mandala art on clay to take home! With a low tide, the kids will start off with a marine scavenger hunt and learn all about the fascinating creatures at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary.  They will enjoy some marine-focused nature craft activities on return and find out how they can help protect our marine life.

Our program has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to build their gross motor and physical skills through climbing, balancing, walking and fine motor skills during our craft activities. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.

Our workshop facilitator Diana lives locally and with a Archaeology and Paleontology Degree, she has a wealth of knowledge to share about the local marine life with her groups.

As a protected marine sanctuary, we want to do our bit to help protect the marine life and clean up any plastic we find so we ask you to tread carefully and be gentle on the rockpools, remove nothing and please wear soft shoes on the platforms and reefs. If you see any rubbish then please pick it up or let us know as we always take a bin to collect  and clean the sanctuary.

Ages: 3 – 8 years (siblings under 14 months are welcome to attend for free although young siblings are not advised to come due to the slippery rocks).
