Join us for a day in the bush connecting to nature and learning bush survival and bushcraft skills through hands on activities that are fun, engaging and connects your child to nature in a deep and meaningful way. During this session, we’ll be learning all about wombats and participating in a wombat mapping survey searching for clues on where wombats might live and have been. Lucky for us, our property is a wombat haven with burrows, scat and tracks to look for!
Australia’s unique wombats are in crisis – Their numbers are declining and your help is needed to protect them by recording where you see wombats and their burrows. We need your help to collect information about the lives of wombats so that we can conserve these important ecosystem engineers.
We’ll also be doing all our usual favourite ReWild activities like building and constructing with tools, ropes and loose parts.
Set on a 20 acre bush property in Strathewen, approximately 45kms north-east of Melbourne or just over an hour from the CDB. This fabulous location offers hikes up a mountain and untouched wilderness with an abundance of wildlife (kangaroos, wombats, echidna’s, deer, birdlife, frogs, turtles, lizards and much, much more!). This provides ample opportunity to learn and develop tracking, navigation and bush survival skills and safety.
We have children that leave our programs saying, it was the best day of their lives! Each Forest School holiday program is different so no two will be alike.
The Forest School workshop is led by Adam.
Adam is the founder of Eco Explorers and has been delivering bush programs to families for over 8 years. He spent his entire childhood living and camping in the bush; climbing mountains, exploring rivers, learning to fish, track, make fires and to survive. He is also a forest school leader and has a background in Outdoor Education.
Forest School Melbourne is an all-weather outdoor program so you need to make sure you bring appropriate weather protection and clothing. Our program will only be cancelled in the event of an extreme weather warning; fire, storm, high temperatures and strong wind.
Ages: 6-12 years
*This is a drop off session only. (Please contact us beforehand if your child has any additional needs)
