Do you have a curious child? A child that loves ADVENTURE, CLIMBING, DIGGING, BUILDING and searching for BUGS? Then this workshop is just for you! Come along and see what our Eco Explorers bush program is all about!

Children will go on an adventure searching for clues that tell us about the animals that live in at Pound Bend in Warrandyte. They will search for footprints, burrows, bones, nests, bugs, webs, footprints and even poo! They will learn about life cycles, plants, bugs, wildlife and maybe even spot a kangaroo!

The children will be encouraged to use their bodies through climbing, balancing and explore the bushland with friends. They will also get a chance to build a bush cubby!  This is a great activity for encouraging team work, problem-solving, creative thinking as well as learning essential bush skills. There will be plenty of loose parts to inspire creative play and their imagination and some mud kitchen play for the younger ones.

Eco Explorers bush playgroups are facilitated by qualified and experienced nature play educators (read more about our team here) that offer a wide range of nature based, sensory play activities for your child to enjoy. Some of the activities include mud kitchen play, nature art and crafts, earth painting, nature stamping, creating with clay, and exploring in nature.

Our facilitator, Ashlee is a qualified and experienced, early childhood educator who has been working as a wilderness camp leader and as a theatre puppet maker for children for nearly 10 years. She has a passion for connecting children to nature and does so through creative activities, stories and games.

Bush playgroup is an all weather outdoor playgroup so you need to make sure you bring appropriate weather protection and clothing. Children must have closed footwear when walking in the bush, sun hats, sunscreen, wet weather gear, plenty of snacks and water and a change of clothes.

Ages: 1 – 6 years (siblings under 12 months are welcome to attend for free).
