Phillip Island Whale Festival – DIY String Art Whale

  •  06/07/2019
     1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Come and celebrate the big whale migration at the Phillip Island Whale Festival these school holidays!

Celebrate the annual arrival of some of the ocean’s most majestic creatures as our coastal waters play host to humpback and southern right whales and even the occasional killer whales. The Island Whale Festival is an immersive three-day event held during the school holidays on Phillip Island from 5-7 July 2019 and heralds the arrival of these seafaring cetaceans into our marine environment.

Eco Explorers will be running workshops for children to immerse themselves in creativity, hands-on skills and learning with our DIY whale string art workshop where children will get to use real tools to hammer and create a piece of art they can proudly take home and hang up on their wall!

Our qualified facilitators are there to guide and teach your child the skills to safely complete this project so that your child gets the satisfaction of learning something new or completing a project.

By giving children small achievable tasks to complete, they learn to become more independent while developing self-esteem and learning to assess risk and make sensible and informed decisions about how to deal with unfamiliar and unpredictable situations. The children will work both independently and as a team and take these skills home with them that can use anytime in the bush.

Ages: 4 – 12 years

*Parents are required to stay and are responsible for their children.
