Mushroom Reef Sensory Play – CASUAL

  •  26/04/2018
     10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Mushroom Reef is a beautiful rockpool oasis located in Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula famous for its diversity of marine life, including sheltered rock pools, coves and a shallow reef on the ocean side as well as sandstone rock platforms extending from the shore.

Come and join us for a fun morning filled with of sensory nature play, nature connection, rock pool exploration and learning, games, activities, story and song at Mushroom Reef.  The session will start off with a variety of loose parts and invitations to play using their creativity, fine motor skills, imagination and some mixing and crushing making sand art. Then the kids will head off for a sensory walk and sensory beach scavenger hunt. There will be some beach art and fun games to encourage problem-solving, teamwork and coordination.

Our program has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to build their gross motor and physical skills through climbing, balancing, walking and fine motor skills during our craft activities. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.

Our workshop facilitator Alison is a qualified Primary and Secondary School Teacher, who has experience working with kids with special needs, as well as being involved in helping set up natural play spaces for her local kindergarten and playgroup for many years.

Ages: 1 – 6 years (siblings under 14 months are welcome to attend for free).

*Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
