Mushroom Reef Sanctuary – Rockpools & DIY Clay Sea Creatures

  •  06/01/2021
     9:30 am - 11:00 am

Mushroom Reef Marine Sanctuary is a beautiful rockpool oasis located in Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula and is famous for its diversity of marine life, including sheltered rock pools, coves and a shallow reef on the ocean side as well as sandstone rock platforms extending from the shore.

Come and join us for a fun morning out on the rockpools discovering the magnificent marine life, sharing stories and then getting crafty, making your own sea creatures out of clay to take home! With a low tide, the kids will start off with a marine scavenger hunt and learn all about the fascinating creatures at Mushroom Reef Marine Sanctuary.  They will enjoy some marine-focused nature craft activities on return and find out how they can help protect our marine life.

Our program has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to build their gross motor and physical skills through climbing, balancing, walking and fine motor skills during our craft activities. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.

Alicia is a certified kids yoga teacher, artist and bush playgroup facilitator who has studied Conservation and Land Management.

Ages: 3 – 10 years (siblings under 14 months are welcome to attend for free).

*Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
