Mini Beasts Workshop CERES

  •  02/07/2018
     9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Ignite your child’s creativity and love of nature with our Mini-beasts workshop! The children will be using their senses to get messy and creative using art, craft, and storytelling to ignite their creativity. Located at the popular Ceres Environment Park in Melbourne’s Brunswick East, we’ll be set up in the African village.

The children will create their own minibeasts and bug hotels using natural/recycled materials such as gum nuts, banksia, pine cones, cardboard, sticks, gum leaves and clay. Children will learn how to use real tools and may even develop a story based on themes found in nature. There will be a variety of ‘projects’ on offer to suit children of all ages and abilities.

The group will also head down to the pond and enjoy a game of ‘bug detectives’ on the way with nets and buckets in search of water bugs and water critters to identify and scoop up.

This workshop is run by Ashlee & Pascale.

Ashlee is a qualified and experienced, early childhood educator who has been working as a wilderness camp leader and as a theatre puppet maker for children for nearly 10 years. Pascale is a qualified Horticulturist and Linguist, who specialises in delivering educational garden programs to primary schools and kindergartens. Pascale has extensive knowledge of plants and local Indigenous history.

*Parents can stay or leave their children if they are over 6 years of age and we have a full day attendance option as well with a woodworking forest school workshop following this one.

Ages: 3 – 12 years
