Gresswell Bush Play – Nature Detectives! – CANCELLED

  •  21/09/2022
     10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Ignite your child’s creativity and love of nature with our Nature Detectives workshop!

Use our magnifying glasses and nature detective cards to solve the clues to help you identify the plants, fungi, tracks, scats and insects we find on our walk at Gresswell Forest Wildlife Reserve in Macleod.

The children will learn how to track animals and when they return, make their favourite animal with our natural materials. There will also be games, songs and investigation stations set up for learning. And plenty of opportunity to explore in the bush.

Our program is for specifically aimed at supporting children to develop important social, physical and emotional skills through hands-on learning and teaching them real-life bush survival and bushcraft skills.

Our program has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to build their gross motor and physical skills through climbing, balancing, walking and fine motor skills during our craft activities. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.

This workshop is run by May who has a background in biology and genetics.

Bush playgroup is an all weather outdoor playgroup so you need to make sure you bring appropriate weather protection and clothing. Children and adults must wear closed footwear when walking in the bush, sun hats, sunscreen, wet weather gear, plenty of snacks and water and even a change of clothes for those muddy play days! Our playgroup will only be cancelled in the event of an extreme weather warning; fire, storm, high temperatures and strong wind.

Ages: 2 – 8 years (siblings under 12 months are welcome to attend for free).

*Parents are responsible for their children at all times and are encourage to join in on the fun!
