Australian Bush Puppetry Workshop

     10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Ignite your child’s creativity and love of nature through art, craft and story telling with our Forest School bush puppetry school holiday workshop at Newport Lakes.

The children will create their own Australian animal bush puppets using natural materials such as bark, sticks, gum nuts, leaves, banksia seed pods, pine cones, clay, string and other natural and recycled materials. The possibilities are endless and they may make bush snakes, goannas, crocodiles, echidnas, koala, kangaroo tails and much much more.

After a busy morning of crafting, the children will perform a play and act out an Australian animal story.

This school holiday workshop is being held at Newport Lakes and is a great opportunity for children to be outdoors, in nature, learning real skills with real tools and making useful things.

Our workshop facilitator, Ashlee is a qualified and experienced, early childhood educator who has been working as a wilderness camp leader and as a theatre puppet maker for children for nearly 10 years. She has a passion for connecting children to nature and does so through creative activities, stories and games.

The children can work both independently and as a team and take these skills home with them that can use anytime in the bush.

Ages: 2 – 10 years

Parents must stay with their children at all times.
