Campfire & Damper – pre-school

  •  05/07/2018
     10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Come and join us for a morning of damper making around a warm fire at the wonderful Ceres Environmental Park in Melbourne’s Brunswick East. We’ll be set up in the African village and will be offering children the opportunity to make their very own damper and then cook it over the fire to enjoy for morning tea. The children will also prepare their damper stick by sanding it smooth and then enjoy mixing together their damper, ready for the fire!

This workshop is a chance for children and families to slow down and enjoy the simpler things in life. It’s like going camping without all the packing!  We’ll also share some stories, maybe a few jokes and songs around the fire.

If your child loves camping and the outdoors, then this campfire and damper making workshop is for them!

Research clearly shows that the more time children spend outdoors, then better they are prepared for school and life. Spending time outdoors is essential for normal development and a healthy childhood.

This session will be led by Melinda, Adam and Ashlee. Melinda is the founder of Eco Explorers and Forest School Leader who has also trained in Nature Pedagogy under Claire Warden. Ashlee is a qualified and experienced, early childhood educator who has been working as a wilderness camp leader and as a theatre puppet maker for children for nearly 10 years.

Adam spent his entire childhood in the bush, living off-grid, climbing mountains, playing in rivers, learning to fish, track, make fires and simplify ‘being’ in nature. He now hopes to share his childhood experiences with the next generation to inspire a deep connection to nature. He has a background in Outdoor Education and enjoys camping, rock climbing and meditation.

We hope you can join us for a morning campfire ‘experience’ like no other.

Ages: 3-8 years
