Come and join us for an afternoon learning about bush tucker, making damper and enjoying a bush tea around a warm fire at Birrarung Park in Bulleen.

This workshop is a chance for children and families to slow down and enjoy the simpler things in life. We’ll be making some tasty damper on the fire, which will go nicely with some lemon myrtle tea which will be on offer! It’s like going camping without all the packing!  We’ll also share some stories, maybe a few jokes around the fire and finish the session with our popular fire keepers game.

This workshop is run by Adam.

Adam is the founder of Eco Explorers and has been delivering bush programs to families for over 6 years. He spent his entire childhood living and camping in the bush; climbing mountains, exploring rivers, learning to fish, track, make fires and to simplify… just ‘being’ at one in nature. Adam now hopes to share his childhood & adult experiences with the next generation to inspire a deep connection with nature. He has a background in Outdoor Education and enjoys camping, bushcraft, rock climbing, and meditation.

Research clearly shows that the more time children spend outdoors, then better they are prepared for school and life. Spending time outdoors is essential for normal development and a healthy childhood.

Our bush programs enable children to be kids, to get muddy and dirty and learn through real hands on experiences. We provide opportunities for families to completely immerse themselves in the outdoors, which is an excellent way to improve mental health, physical wellness and build strong relationships with others.

Eco Explorers is an all-weather outdoor program so you need to make sure you bring appropriate weather protection and clothing. Children must have closed footwear when walking in the bush, sun hats, sunscreen, wet weather gear, plenty of snacks and water and a change of clothes. Our program will only be cancelled in the event of an extreme weather warning; fire, storm, high temperatures and strong wind.
