Bulleen School Holiday program – Introduction to Whittling

  •  02/04/2024
     1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us these school holidays for a relaxing afternoon under the magnificent oak trees learning the art of whittling wood at Banksia Park in Bulleen.

Our programs teach essential bush survival and bushcraft skills through hands on learning and nature based activities that are fun, engaging and promote self esteem, confidence, build resilience and most importantly encourage them to move and strengthen their bodies and connect with nature in a deep and meaningful way.

Our bushcraft  whittling workshop introduce children to the ancient art of whittling wood to provide them with the many ways to experience the joy of traditional hand woodworking. We cover basic safety and how to use a peeler or knife and your child will be supported and guided through the correct techniques and methods to make their own project and feel confident in beginner whittling.

Children leave feeling proud of their accomplishments and learning how to use real tools. If you are looking for an activity to engage your children and encourage them to be creative outdoors, we highly recommend whittling and woodworking and all the basic supplies can be found on our online store.

This workshop is run by Bush Kids facilitator Kirsty.

Ages: 4 – 10 years

*Parents must stay and supervise their children at all times.
