Winter Solstice Lantern Making – Mornington Peninsula

  •  21/06/2018
     10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us at the Balcombe Estuary in Mount Martha for a morning of lantern making and a warm fire to celebrate the winter solstice, marking the longest night and the shortest day of the year.

The children will be guided by their facilitator Alison to make their own winter lanterns using recycled and natural materials, ready for the night ahead! There will be stories, songs and some hot tea for the parents and toasted apples for the children to enjoy.

This intimate workshop is a chance for both past, present and new families to come together and share a beautiful morning of connection in nature. The children will also enjoy a bush walk and some outdoor play.

Our workshop facilitator Alison is a qualified Primary and Secondary School Teacher, who has been running bush playgroups in the Mornington Peninsula for the past 8 months. She has experience working with children with special needs, as well as being involved in helping set up natural play spaces for her local kindergarten and playgroup for many years.

All materials provided.

Ages: 1 – 6 years (siblings under 14 months are welcome to attend for free).

*Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
