Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary – Wednesdays

  •  11/10/2017 - 13/12/2017
     10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary, located just near Beaumaris, south-east of Melbourne is the perfect place to introduce kids to the wonders of underwater marine life. The area offers a diverse range of habitats with its rock pools close to shore.

Eco Explorers Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary beach and bush playgroup is run by Pascale, a horticulturist and specialist garden educator for kindergarten aged and primary school children. Pascale has extensive knowledge of Ricketts Point and its marine life. Our playgroups offer you the best of nature play in a relaxed, supportive and positive environment. There is plenty of opportunities for children to explore, discover and play in the rock pools and adjacent bush area, as well as learn about local marine life.

Our beach and bush playgroup has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to build their motor and physical skills through climbing, balancing, walking and fine motor skills during our marine discovery activities. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.

Eco Explorers beach playgroup allows parents to disconnect from their busy lives (and technology) and re-connect with their child in nature. This time is as much for you as it is for your child. Our playgroups bring together a community of like-minded parents who are supportive and welcoming.

Our playgroup is an all weather outdoor playgroup so you need to make sure you bring appropriate weather protection and clothing. Children must have closed footwear when walking in the bush and rockpools, sun protection, wet weather gear and plenty of snacks and water. It will only be cancelled in the event of extreme weather warning; fire, storm, high temperatures and strong wind and you will be offered a make-up session for that class.

*Parents are responsible for their children at all times.

Ages: 1 – 5 years (siblings under 18 months are welcome to attend for free).
