Newport Bush Survival and Navigation Skills

  •  27/06/2022
     9:30 am - 11:30 am

Join us at Newport Lakes Reserve for our Bush Kids school holiday program where your child will by supported to learn essential bush survival skills, including how to use a compass and read maps, identify landmarks and symbols in nature and even create their own map of Newport Lakes!

With so much reliance on technology to navigate us, we’ve set up this workshop,  to challenge children to navigate by nature!

This workshop is run by Penny, a certified level 3 Forest School Leader who has been running programs for Eco Explorers for 5 years.

Our bush programs enable children to be kids, to get muddy and dirty and learn through real hands on experiences. We provide opportunities for families to completely immerse themselves in the outdoors, which is an excellent way to improve mental health, physical wellness and build strong relationships with others.

Eco Explorers is an all-weather outdoor program so you need to make sure you bring appropriate weather protection and clothing. Children must have closed footwear when walking in the bush, sun hats, sunscreen, wet weather gear, plenty of snacks and water and a change of clothes. Our program will only be cancelled in the event of an extreme weather warning; fire, storm, high temperatures and strong wind.

Ages: 4-10 years

*Parents are required to attend and are responsible for their children at all times.
