Forest School – Boats, Ropes & Knots

  •  13/04/2018
     1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

It’s time to get kids off the screens and into our Bush Kids – Forest School these school holidays! They’ll learn life skills and how to use real tools while making friends and building confidence.

Join us for this hands-on workshop with our facilitator Ashlee, as we embark on a bush adventure like no other! The kids will learn bush skills such as how to tie various rope knots and then design and construct their own mini boat or raft. This workshop involves plenty of construction and creativity and they will be sourcing and using all natural materials. Then we’ll head off for a bush walk to learn all about the animals and bugs that live near the lake and of course, try out our boats. Will they sail or will they sink? Let’s see!

This forest school holiday workshop is being held at Newport Lakes and is a great opportunity for children to be outdoors, in nature, learning real skills with real tools and making useful things.

Our workshop facilitator, Ashlee is a qualified and experienced, early childhood educator who has been working as a wilderness camp leader and as a theatre puppet maker for children for nearly 10 years. She has a passion for connecting children to nature and does so through creative activities, stories and games.

The children can work both independently and as a team and take these skills home with them that can use anytime in the bush.

Ages: 3 – 12 years

Parents must stay with their children at all times.
